About us
A storage firm that also moves things.
That order is deliberate. Most removals companies treat storage as a line at the bottom of the services page. Here it is the larger half of the work, and it changes how everything else gets planned.
Why the order matters
A firm that mostly moves things thinks in single days: load, drive, unload, done. A firm that mostly stores things thinks in gaps — the weeks between having to be out and being able to get in, the renovation that has overrun, the sale that completed before the purchase did.
Ashford produces a great many of those gaps. The town has grown faster than almost anywhere in Kent, which means long chains, new-build completions that slip, and a rental market people pass through between two houses. If the firm you hire has already thought about the gap, the gap stops being a crisis.
Ashford, Kent — and we should say which
TN23, TN24 and TN25. The Stour, the Downs behind Wye, junction 9 of the M20, and a station that will put you in central London or in France without changing trains.
There is another Ashford in Surrey, out by Staines, and people searching for a mover find both. We are not that one. Everything on this site — the lanes, the postcodes, the level crossing at Wye that will hold you up at the worst possible moment — is the Kent town.
What we actually do
Containerised storage collected from your door and sealed at your address. Business, vehicle and student storage for people who need space rather than a move. House removals across the TN postcodes. Man and van for the smaller jobs that do not need a full crew. Office and business moves run outside trading hours. And removals out of the country, which Ashford is unusually well placed for.
How we work
-
We survey before we quote
A price given over the phone from a room count is a guess, and guesses get corrected on the day when you have least room to argue. We look at the volume and the access first — in person, or over video if that suits you better — and then the number we give you is the number.
-
We will tell you to go elsewhere
If you need to get at your things every week, a self-storage unit is better than what we do and we will say so. Winning a job that frustrates the customer for months is not a win. There is a whole comparison on the storage page written specifically to talk some people out of using us.
-
Nothing leaves a room unwrapped
Blanket wrap on upholstery, corners protected, mirrors and glass crated, clothes moved hanging in wardrobe cartons. This matters more for storage than for a move — a scuff that would be nothing on a short journey across town becomes a mark that sits there for months.
-
Access decides the plan
Where a vehicle can legally stand in the town centre, whether a Wye lane will take a full-size body, how many flights there are in a flat above the High Street. We work that out in advance rather than discovering it with a sofa in our hands.
-
We stay inside our patch
Ashford and the TN postcodes around it, out to Charing, Wye and the Wealden edge. We are not going to claim the whole county. Knowing a town properly is worth more than covering a map.
What we do not do
House clearance. Clearing a property means disposing of waste, which requires a licence we do not hold. We will move things and we will store things; we will not take them away to be got rid of.
Anything dangerous or perishable. No fuel, gas bottles, solvents, paint, fireworks, plants or food. Not a preference — the warehouse and the insurance both depend on it.
Jobs we would do badly. Piano moving, safes, laboratory equipment and fine art beyond what proper crating covers all belong with specialists. We would rather point you at one than improvise.
Being straight about price
There are no figures anywhere on this site, and that is on purpose. A number written before we have seen your access, your volume and your dates would be fiction, and fiction on a website has a way of becoming an argument on the day.
What you get instead is a written quote after a survey, with the scope set out plainly — what is included, what would change it, and what happens if your dates move. That is a more useful kind of transparency than a headline price that never applies to anybody.
The other firms in town
There are several, and some of them are good. Ashford is a big enough town to support more than one honest mover, and a bad job done by anyone here reflects on all of us.
Get more than one quote. Ask each of them where your things would actually be kept, who is doing the wrapping, and what happens if your completion slips by a fortnight. The answers will tell you more than the prices do.
Think it through with someone who has seen it before.
Most of what goes wrong on a move is predictable, and most of it is about dates rather than lifting. Tell us the situation and we will tell you what we would do.
