Removals Ashford.

Questions

Asked often, answered plainly.

If something here is not covered, ring and ask. The questions people are most nervous about — what happens when a date moves, what happens if something gets marked — are the ones worth asking before you book, not after.

Ashford, specifically

The local ones — which Ashford, village lanes, town-centre parking, and the new estates.

Do you mean Ashford in Kent or Ashford in Surrey?

Kent. TN23, TN24 and TN25 — the Stour, junction 9 of the M20, Ashford International. There is another Ashford out by Staines in Surrey and searches bring up both. If you are in TW15 we are the wrong firm, and we would rather say so on this page than waste your afternoon.

We are in a village rather than the town. Does that change anything?

Sometimes, and it is worth mentioning early. Around Charing, Westwell, Wye and Brook the question is usually whether a full-size vehicle can reach the property and turn. Where it cannot, we use a smaller vehicle and shuttle, which is ordinary and costed in — as long as we know before the day.

Can you park outside in the town centre?

That depends on the street and it is one of the first things we check. Parts of the centre have restrictions, a one-way system and loading limits that decide where a vehicle can legally stand and for how long. Where a permit or a suspended bay is needed we will tell you at survey who has to arrange it.

We are on a new-build estate that is not finished. Is that a problem?

Not usually. Chilmington, Finberry and Repton are straightforward to load — decent doorways, space to park. The complications are unmade road surfaces, an address the satnav does not yet know, and completion dates that move. The last one is why we lead with storage.

Our buyer wants to complete before we can move in. What do we do?

This is the single most common reason people ring us, and containerised storage is the answer. Your things are packed, inventoried and sealed at your address on completion day, held in the warehouse, and redelivered when you have keys. You move once, into a house rather than a hotel.

Do you deliver anywhere outside Kent?

Yes — a collection in Ashford can be delivered anywhere in the UK, and plenty of our work is exactly that. What we do not do is claim to be a firm that covers the whole county or the whole country. We know one town properly and drive out from it.

Do you do house clearance?

No. Clearing a property means disposing of waste, which needs a waste carrier licence we do not hold. We will move things and we will store things. For a clearance you want a licensed clearance firm, and there are several locally.

Storing, moving and everything else

Containerised storage versus a unit, dates, packing, cover, and what we will not take.

Containerised storage or a self-storage unit — which do we need?

Ask yourself one question: do you need to get at your things while they are stored? If yes, rent a unit — you get your own key and you come and go. If no, containerised is almost always better, because we collect from your door, inventory and seal everything at your address, and nothing is handled loose in between. Most people who ring us asking for a unit actually want the second thing.

Are you in Ashford, Kent or Ashford, Surrey?

Kent — TN23, TN24 and TN25, the town with Ashford International and junctions 9 and 10 of the M20. There is another Ashford near Staines in Surrey and searches confuse the two constantly. If you are looking for that one, we are not it.

What does storage in Ashford cost?

It depends on how much there is, how long you need it, and whether you want containerised storage or a unit. Volume is the main driver, and people consistently underestimate it — a three-bed house takes more space than the same house looks like it should. We would rather look at what is going than quote against a guess.

Which villages do you cover?

Ashford town and the TN postcodes around it — Kennington, Willesborough, Kingsnorth, Finberry, Chilmington, and out to Charing, Westwell, Wye and Brook. We reach Tenterden and the Wealden edge too. We do not cover Folkestone, Dover, Canterbury or Maidstone; those are other firms’ towns.

Do you do removals as well, or only storage?

Both, and the same crew does both. Storage is simply the bigger half of what we do here, which is why it leads. House moves, man and van, and office moves across the TN postcodes are all part of it, and plenty of jobs are a move with a storage gap in the middle.

Can you store things at short notice?

Often, and it is worth ringing rather than emailing if a completion has just moved. The variable is warehouse space at that moment rather than crew, so we can usually tell you quickly whether it is possible.

How far ahead should we book?

As far ahead as you reasonably can, especially for a Friday or an end-of-month date — those go first everywhere in the trade. That said, ring anyway if your date has just landed on you. Short-notice storage in particular works more often than people expect.

What if our completion date moves?

Tell us the moment you know. Dates slipping in a chain is entirely normal and we would far rather re-plan early than find out on the morning. A booking moved with reasonable notice is usually just a diary change.

Are you insured?

Goods-in-transit and public liability cover are both in place, and the limits are stated on your quote rather than buried. There is a standard per-item limit; if you own something worth more than it, tell us at survey and we will arrange the cover that piece needs before the day.

Do you offer a video survey?

Yes, and for a flat, a smaller house or a storage estimate it works perfectly well — you walk us round on your phone, open the cupboards, show us the loft hatch. For a full house, or anywhere with awkward access, we would rather come and stand in it.

Can you move or store at the weekend?

Saturdays regularly. Sundays are possible but harder, and some buildings restrict weekend moves in the lease, so it is worth checking before you settle on one.

Do you do packing?

All of it, some of it, or just the materials dropped off. For storage in particular, packing properly matters more than people realise — things sitting sealed for months need to be packed for that rather than for a short van journey across town.

What happens if something is damaged?

Note it on the paperwork at delivery while the crew is there, and tell us in writing. The claims process and the reporting window are in the booking terms. Keep the packaging until a claim is assessed — it is often what establishes where the damage happened.

Who actually turns up?

Our own crew, in our own vehicles. We do not sell your job on to whoever is free. If a move needs extra hands we tell you at quote stage that additional crew are coming, and why.

Can we leave clothes in the drawers?

In a chest of drawers, usually yes if the unit is sound. In a wardrobe, no — we bring wardrobe cartons so things travel hanging. For anything going into long-term storage we would rather clothes were boxed properly than left loose in furniture.

Is there anything you will not move or store?

Anything flammable, explosive or corrosive; gas bottles, paint, solvents and fuel; perishables; plants and anything living; firearms. Pets travel with you. And we do not do waste clearance, which needs a licence we do not hold.

Still not answered?

The pages themselves go deeper than this one does. Storage has the honest comparison between containerised storage and a self-storage unit. House removals covers what actually happens on the day. Areas we cover says what each part of town is like to load in, and international removals deals with customs paperwork since Brexit.

Anything left over, get in touch — we would rather answer it now than have it surface on moving day.

One more question is free. So is the survey.

Ring with the awkward one — the date that might move, the piece nobody wants to carry, the loft full of things nobody has looked at in years.
